Private health insurance
Allied Health is covered by most leading private health care insurers, however it will need to be listed as an option on your policy. We recommend that you contact your private health insurer to find out what they will cover and how much your rebate will be.
Accounts with FUNctional Therapy must be paid in full before seeking rebates from your private health provider or Medicare. Payment can be made via debit/credit card on the day the therapy session is completed with the exception of NDIS plan-managed clients, who will be provided with an invoice to be paid within 7 days.
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a national funding scheme that has been rolled out across the disability sector in Australia. The NDIS promotes access and participation in daily activities for children and adults with a disability, including access to specialist disability support services such as Allied Health.
If your child if eligible for NDIS funding, you will receive a plan which includes a funding package on an annual basis to pay for the services and aids your child requires to achieve their set goals. Plans can either be managed by the NDIS, by an agency (”plan-managed”) or you can manage the funds yourself (“self-managed”). FUNctional Therapy can see children who have “self-managed” or “plan-managed” plans only. If you are unsure who manages your plan, your LAC will be able to discuss this further with you.
If your child does not yet have an NDIS plan and is eligible, they will need to be registered which is easily completed online on the NDIS website. If you have questions regarding this please get in contact with us to point you in the right direction.
FUNctional Therapy is an approved provider for Medicare funding under the Chronic Disease Management Plan (CDMP). The CDMP is a Medicare-rebated funding option available for children and adults who have a chronic medical condition.
If eligible, you will receive 5 rebates per year for Allied Health Services which will subsidise the cost of therapy (i.e. OT, Physiotherapy, Speech Pathology). Your GP will need to complete the associated paperwork which you need to bring to your child’s first therapy session.
Please note, if your child is eligible for a CDMP this will need to be in place prior to commencing therapy, as FUNctional Therapy charges more than the Medicare rebate. Full payment will need to be paid on the day of the therapy session and the parent/carer can then claim the rebate through Medicare by using the tax invoice provided
